Proverbs 3:5-6

(5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. (6) In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make smooth your paths.

(5) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.

  • Be sure in the Lord, not yourself!

    • The One who created and sustains all of life is still in control and can be trusted. The Lord created all things in perfect peace, just the way it was intended to be, but it was humanity that failed. In the garden of Eden, humanity chose to disobey and as a result distorted God’s good creation. From this one sin, came the fall of man, born into a sinful world, corrupted by pride, envy, greed, and the desire to be in control. But God had a better plan, a plan to redeem creation, including humanity, back to Himself including perfect peace. God sent His only Son to redeem the world. Such a loving God that gave up His only Son can be trusted to have good plans for your life even when we can’t see it.

(6) In all your ways, acknowledge Him and he will make straight your paths.

  • In all your ways, know Him and He will make smooth your paths.

    • This point really goes alongside trusting God. To know Him in all your ways is to apply his ways as our ways. His kingdom come, His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. However, in order to do this, we must first know what His way or will is, which simply means we must know what the Bible says. Though, it’s simply not a mental accent to His Word that gives us the blessings of a good life, but rather, it’s applying God’s Word in obedience that gives you the good life. This is what surrendering your will to His will means. In all your choosing, chose Him and he will allow you to live the good life!
